1960

At the start of the 60s there was no M5/M6 and many developments were still to happen. The mine at Hamstead was operational and the Durham estate had not been built. The area now covered by Stanton Road, Monksfield Avenue did not exist beyond a short spur near Fairyfields. Wilderness Lane linked to Red House Park before the coming of the motorway permanently changed the area. Green Lane was shown crossing the canal where a footbridge now provides the only access. b43_1960 (167K)
