Pokemon Go

You may have heard of the latest game craze "Pokeman Go" where you can use a mobile phone application to search for Pokemon characters. This uses augmented reality and GPS mapping which means that as you move around places Pokemon characters will appear as if in the real world using the phones camera. You can then 'catch' your Pokemon.

How does this impact the Red House? Well there are certain locations called Pokestops where you can find more Pokemon and collect items for the game, and the Red House originally had three - the Obelisk and the Noticeboards. In 2019 an additional stop was added at the entrance to the park on the Newton Road.

The Red House itself is a Pokemon Gym where gamers can play against other virtual gamers.

This all means that you are very likely to find gamers in the park walking around trying to find Pokemon.
